The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is dedicated to feeding, clothing, housing and healing individuals and families in our community who have no where else to turn for help. I would like to nominate Irma Leyendecker for the Do-Gooder Award. Irma is a selfless contributor to our community. She is currently the Volunteer Services Manager at St. Vincent de Paul where her work is instrumental in providing countless volunteers to carry out 15 powerful programs throughout Central and Northern Arizona. Irma has worked in the non-profit sector for many years. She is talented, passionate and most of all, committed to the betterment of our community. 1 in 4 children go to bed hungry each night right here in Arizona and at the same time over 90% of food waste ends up in landfills. Waste Not, Inc. works every day to change the unfortunate realities of hunger and food waste in our community. Kate Thoene, Executive Director, has made a tremendous impact within multiple organizations in the Phoenix area. Kate’s experience includes her role as Director of CK Programs for St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, Chief Social Enterprise Officer at UMOM, and Director of Social Enterprise and Employment at SAARC. She has served on multiple boards including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Social Enterprise Alliance AZ and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Kate is truly inspirational.
